It would be a mistake to call Paula Vogel's newest effort a Christmas work. Yes, the title is "A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration," but this play with music declares in its first scene: "The season is upon us, and whether it's Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or New Year's, it's a time when we feel our connection to a larger community.
